Labor Day Weekend!!

It's funny how many kids I've heard be so excited about a 3 day weekend when school just started on Wednesday. :)

What are we doing this Labor Day weekend? Well, not much. We'll watch the Penn State Nittany Lion football game on television (go Lions!). We're planning to have a cookout, and it looks like the weather will be great.

Here are more photos of my family. My husband and Jared are on the left. Our 12 year old Miniature Schnauzer named Buddy Bone is on the right along with our 11 year old inside only calico cat named Purrmy. We no longer get Buddy's hair cut for the traditional Schnauzer look. He's never been fond of the groomer anyway.

Jared wants to go to a few stores to look for new Star Wars figures. I don't mind looking at toys. I've been a collector of Cabbage Patch Kids since 1983. I have hundreds of them (not kidding). There is a new line of Cabbage Patch Kids for the 25th anniversary. They used the same headmolds as the dolls made in 1983. I have 5 of these new dolls so far. My family does not share in my joy of collecting dolls. They just tolerate it. Ha ha. Just so you know, there are a lot of adult Cabbage Patch collectors from all over the world. Thanks to the internet I've met many nice people who like the same thing I do. Maybe we're all oddballs, but at least life is happy for us.

Jared's attended a few of the extra curricular activity sessions today. He's trying to figure out which ones he wants to join. Jared's also working on reading, typing and Study Island. Nothing from K12 came today.

I hope everyone has a nice Labor Day weekend.

Today is day 2 of school.

We actually received material from K12. Get ready... we received... a Spanish/English dictionary.
That's it. It's a start, I guess.

Jared had his second day of orientation. He also worked on some reading on his own and his typing game. Later on he's logging onto Study Island.

Both of us are anxious to get this school year lessons started.

August 27, 2008 FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL

Today is Jared's first day of high school. This is also the start of Jared's 4th year with PAVCS.
My older son just started business school today, so this morning was pretty busy.
We haven't received any books from K12 yet. I hope they are coming soon. Orientation is all this week, so as long as we get them by next Tuesday we should be fine. If not, the teachers have plans in place so that school begins smoothly.

Jared had his orientation this morning. Going into high school is a lot different this year. His schedule is not at all like last year. Jared seems very happy with how his high school schedule is.

I guess I should introduce myself. My name is Heidi. I live in Central PA. Our household has myself, my husband, and two sons. The older son attends business school. The younger son is enrolled in a virtual charter school. We also have a 12 year old Miniature Schnauzer named Buddy and a 11 year old inside only calico cat named Purrmy.

Jared is kind, funny, liked animals, and is big into building models. He enjoys anime (Japanese animation), Bionicles, Star Wars, Gundam, Transformers, Pokemon, and such. Jared is great with computers and video games. If it's electronic, Jared figures it out quickly. He's a great kid.

Our family loves Walt Disney World. We usually go every other year. Our last vacation was in December 2007. We stayed at the Contemporary Resort. It was great as always. We don't usually vacation anywhere else. Have a question about Disney World? Don't be afraid to ask.
Even my husband looks forward to going back to Disney. We never tire of it.

I have been into scrapbooking for 10 years. I love photography, and Jared has started enjoying that, too.

We love PAVCS. My only regret is not starting Jared with PAVCS sooner. I started speaking with the school when Jared was in 3rd grade, but didn't make the switch until Jared was in 6th grade. The curriculum is wonderful. Jared has learned far more with PAVCS than he would have in our traditional school district. Every year Jared has the choice of going back to his local school district or staying with PAVCS. It's PAVCS hands down.

This is our first blog. I'm not sure if we are doing this right, but I guess I'm done until tomorrow. :)
